Public Decency is my first solo exhibition, built around the idea that street photography is an inherently positive act.
Something that I’ve been thinking about for while now, often the first question someone asks about my street photography is, “do you ever have bad interactions with the people you photograph?” and to me, that misses the point of it.
We’re going out into public space every day to capture the good in people - whether it’s interactions between others, or the uniqueness of individuals - and if you do it right, people understand that. Sure, we’re capturing the world as it is, and there will always be outlying circumstances, but most of the time we're searching for the good that's already there. That's what I wanted Public Decency to explore.
